Band News (week of 10/29-11/4)

Hey Falcons! Please see below from Mr. Bond's email for the week of Monday (10/29) through Sunday (11/4)...

Good Morning,

Congratulations again to the band on a great performance at the UIL Region marching contest on Tuesday! No matter what happens tomorrow competitively, we are so proud of our students for all of their hard work this year and it’s been incredibly fun to watch how much the band has grown in the last couple of months! I’m especially proud of how hard the kids have worked this week. I know everyone has a lot on their plates (and are exhausted) at this point, so it’s been pretty amazing. There’s nothing like the commitment of a band kid!

We are still in need of help with truck parking at the Area marching contest tomorrow. If you are available to help, please sign up here:

Please don’t assume someone else will do this. We need your help!

Football Game vs. CRHS

Our next game will take place on Saturday, November 3 vs. Cinco Ranch High School at 11:00 am at Legacy Stadium. Please remember that all games are mandatory for all students.

Dress for this football game will be full uniform. Wind and percussion students need to wear their spirit shirt, performance shorts, black socks, Viper marching shoes and gloves (winds). Guard members need to wear a black shirt and black dance pants (you will change into your uniform at the game). Students must also have their flip folder, lyre, all music, instrument in working condition, guard equipment, garment bag, and their OTHS Band water bottle.

Schedule:

7:00 am – Band Hall Opens

7:30 am – Rehearsal in the stadium

8:30 am – Eat/Pack/Load

9:30 am – Depart for Legacy Stadium

9:45 am – Arrive at Legacy Stadium (we are the away team)

11:00 am – Game Begins

12:00 pm – Approximate Halftime (Senior Recognition)

1:30 pm – Approximate end of game/Senior Parent Pictures

2:45 pm – Approximate dismissal from OTHS

Please note that we will not performing any of our competition show at halftime, but will be recognizing our awesome class of 2019 instead! After the game has concluded, senior parents are welcome to come down to the field to take pictures with your senior. Please be aware though that the stadium will need to be cleared for the later game, so we’ll only have around 15 minutes or so for pictures.

Playoff Games

It was amazing seeing the football team pull off the win last night, which also locked us into a playoff spot for the first time in school history! We won’t know when our first playoff game will take place until the week of the game, but I will get that info to everyone as soon as I find out.

I hope to see everyone at Legacy tomorrow at 3 pm to cheer on the band as we compete at Area! If we advance to finals, I will send out a message on Remind and through social media.

Have a great week!

Stephen Bond
