Good luck to the percussion section as they open up the competition portion of the fall with their performance at the Battle of the Lakes percussion contest at SLHS tomorrow. They will be performing at 2pm and tickets are $5. As of right now, the performance should take place in the campus stadium. However, if weather is poor, they will move into the gym.
Your first chance to see the full 2019 production of the OTHS Marching Band will be Saturday, September 28 at Legacy Stadium. We will rehearse from 8 am until noon and will have a special preview performance for all friends and families at 12:00 pm. This is a great chance to come and get a sneak peek at what the kids have been working so hard on for the last couple of months before we start competing the following weekend. We will have food for all of the kids afterwards as well. Hope to see you there!

We will leave the 18 wheeler at Legacy Stadium after our game on Friday night with instruments loaded so we don’t have to unload at school on Friday and reload on Saturday morning. The truck will be brought back to Tompkins after the rehearsal on Saturday and we’ll need parents and students who are available to come back to school to help unload.
Football Game vs. SLHS
Our next game will take place on Friday, September 27 vs. Seven Lakes High School at 7:30 pm at Rhodes Stadium. Please remember that all games are mandatory for all students.
Dress for this football game will be full uniform. Wind and percussion students need to wear their show shirt, performance shorts, black socks, Viper marching shoes and gloves (winds). Guard members need to wear their spirit shirt and black dance pants (you will change into your uniform at the game). Students must also have their flip folder, lyre, all music, instrument in working condition, guard equipment, garment bag, and their OTHS Band water bottle.
3:30 pm – Rehearsal in the stadium
4:30 pm – Eat/Pack/Load
6:00 pm – Depart for Rhodes Stadium
6:30 pm – Arrive at Rhodes Stadium (we are the away team)
7:30 pm – Game Begins
8:30 pm – Approximate Halftime
10:00 pm – Approximate end of game (leave the truck loaded at Legacy)
11:00 pm – Approximate dismissal from OTHS
Region Jazz Auditions
Students who are auditioning for the Region Jazz Band please read the following information.
Region Jazz auditions will be held on Tuesday, September 24 at Cinco Ranch High School. Transportation to and from Cinco Ranch will not be provided, so please arrange to get there and picked up on your own. Students need to sign in at 4:00 pm (arrive a little before to find your room and to warm up). The warm up area will be in the freshman commons and auditions will begin at 4:30 pm.
When participating in any region audition, it is important not to wear any clothing that will reveal to the judges what school you are from. Do, however, dress in layers so you can make sure you are comfortable whether the audition room is cold or hot.
If you earn an area spot, you will play that audition on Tuesday, October 1 at HSPVA. More details will follow if this applies to you.
Legacy Stadium Rehearsal/Performance
We will rehearse on Saturday, September 28 at Legacy Stadium from 8 am until noon with a parent performance following the rehearsal. Students will need to provide their own transportation to and from Legacy Stadium that day and will need to plan on arriving at Legacy by no later than 7:20 am. The 18 wheeler will still be loaded and at the stadium from the game the night before, so that will all need to unloaded and prepared for rehearsal before 8 am. The earliest dismissal time for students will be at 12:30 pm (if they don’t eat lunch and are not required to help load the truck).
Students will need to wear athletic shorts, their navy blue spirit shirt, black socks, black Viper marching band shoes and white gloves. We will rehearse with shakos and plumes as well.
This is an extremely important rehearsal as it gives us an opportunity to get the feel for a large stadium the week before our first contest at BOA Katy. As with any rehearsal or performance, this is mandatory for all band students.
If possible, we would like to have all parent pit crew members in attendance at the performance so we can discuss your responsibilities afterwards.
