Band News (week of 10/8-10/14)
Hey Falcons! Please see below from Mr. Bond's email for the week of Monday (10/8) through Sunday (10/14)...
I hope to see everyone at BOA Conroe tomorrow as the band performs at our first marching contest of the year! 2:00 pm at Woodforest Stadium is our prelims performance time and we’ll update you on finals once we know.
Thank you everyone for being flexible with our schedule this fall as we navigate all of the bad weather. We’re going to make another adjustment for tomorrow since we lost about 40 minutes from our rehearsal due to lightning. The band hall will open at 6:20 am instead of 6:30 am and our call time will be 6:45 am instead of 7 am. This will allow us to rehearse a little bit longer in Rhodes before we leave for Conroe.
Congratulations to Jennifer Williams for being named the Tompkins High School Volunteer of the Month for the month of September! Jenn and her husband Brandon are wonderful parents who have dedicated a ton of time to our band program over the last four years and we are so grateful for their selfless dedication to our students. Thank you Jenn, Brandon and every other parent who has volunteered so far this year or will in the future!
Please come out to Raising Canes across the street from OTHS on Tuesday between 5pm-8pm and support the OTHS Band. When you order your meal, please be sure to mention you’re with us and we’ll receive a portion of your purchase.

Students, please remember to carry yourself with pride and class at all times while traveling with the band. Proper etiquette must be displayed at all times while wearing the uniform. Do not do anything that will ever draw negative attention to you or the Tompkins High School Band.
As with all performances, parents, friends and other family members are absolutely encouraged to come watch the band. It is way more fun for the students to perform for a supportive, LOUD, and friendly crowd! Admission to the contest is $10 for prelims only, $10 for finals only or $15 for an all-day ticket.
Videos on Social Media
Please do not share videos of the band performing their competition show on any social media platforms (Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, etc.). In recent years the companies that hold music copyrights have cracked down on marching bands and what they post online. You are still welcome to take video for your own enjoyment, just don’t post on any public social media platforms. Thank you for your help with this!
Band Memory Book
If you haven’t ordered your band memory book yet, you can still do so and get 10% off if you order in October. To do so, go to www.treering.com/validate, and enter school code 101468881455232. Every year I hear about people who didn’t order a memory book and regretted it when they were delivered to everyone else. This is a great way to commemorate the year and you have the opportunity to add customized pages to your individual book. If you’d like to see examples of what these have looked like in the past, you can stop by my office and check out past years’ books.
Senior Recognition Night
Senior recognition night will take place at halftime during the football game vs. Cinco Ranch on November 3. We will recognize all of the outgoing seniors during that time, then after the game there will be an opportunity for senior parents to come to the field and take pictures with their son or daughter.
