Band News (week of 2/25-3/3)
Hey Falcons! Please see below from Mr. Bond's email for the week of Monday (2/25) through Sunday (3/3)...
Thank you to everyone who is volunteering to work the TCGC show tomorrow on our campus! If you are working, please be sure to park in the front parking lot (in front of the gyms) and come in the main entrance of the school. From there you will need to sign in and get your volunteer badge. Adults need to wear a Tompkins Band shirt or any other Tompkins Shirt. Students need to wear their OTHS Band spirit shirt.
I would like to thank Laurie Abrahamson, Ruby Grindal and Linda McElroy for organizing this event. They have been working tirelessly for most of this school year to get this going. There are many others who have done a tremendous amount as well, but I know if I try to list everyone I’ll leave someone out. Definitely looking forward to a great day tomorrow!
I hope everyone will have a chance to come and watch our four wonderful indoor groups perform on Saturday as well. The indoor drum line performs at 10:35 am. The JV guard will perform at 4:09 pm, the A guard at 7:42 pm and the Open guard at 10:33 pm. Admission to the contest is $10.
Solo and Ensemble
All eligible wind and percussion students will perform at the UIL Solo and Ensemble Contest at Morton Ranch High School on Saturday, March 2. Since performance times are so spread out, students are responsible for their own transportation to and from the contest, as we will not provide district transportation from Tompkins. Performance times were posted this week. Each student needs to note their performance time and room and plan on arriving at MRHS 30-45 minutes before they are scheduled to play. Dress for this performance is Sunday best (ladies – dress, slacks, blouse, etc. and gentlemen – slacks, button down shirt, tie, optional jacket). Denim, t-shirts, tennis shoes and shorts are not appropriate for this performance.
Symphony Orchestra UIL
The OTHS Symphony Orchestra will perform a Pre-UIL concert in the OTHS PAC on Tuesday, February 26 at 7:00 pm as it prepares for the UIL contest the following week. Dress for orchestra members is formal concert wear and all band members and families are invited to attend.
Junior High Pre-UIL
We are hosting a Junior High Pre-UIL contest on our campus next Saturday, March 2 and need a handful of student volunteers for this event. If you are able to help out and can make it work with your solo and ensemble schedule, please click the following link and sign up.
Have a great weekend and I hope to see everyone at the TCGC show tomorrow!
