Band News Week of 9-13-2019
Thank you to everyone who came out to the mattress fundraiser this past weekend! We made $5000 for the band in just one day!
Students need to make sure they are staying on top of their grades in all of their classes. The end of the six weeks is on Friday and it’s important that everyone has taken care of business so they aren’t in danger of losing eligibility. Students who are in a Pre-AP or AP class and are considering moving to the academic level of that class because of a poor grade and have found that it’s maybe too much should plan to do so after the beginning of the next six weeks.
We hope to see lots of friendly faces out at Seven Lakes High School on Saturday, September 21 at 2:00 pm to cheer on the drumline and front ensemble as they compete at the Battle at the Lakes Drumline Competition! Admission to the contest is $5 and will take place in the campus stadium. Percussion students should expect to receive a detailed itinerary from Mr. Spooner soon.

Legacy Stadium Rehearsal
We will have a rehearsal at Legacy Stadium on Monday, September 16 from 4:00pm-8:00pm. Students will be responsible for getting themselves to and from this rehearsal since we can’t get buses, so please make sure you have a transportation plan in place. We will be taking the 18 wheeler to the rehearsal, so all instruments that normally go on that for games and contests can go on there for this.
Football Game vs. Clear Creek
Our next game will take place on Friday, September 20 vs. Clear Creek High School at 7:30 pm at Rhodes Stadium. Please remember that all games are mandatory for all students.
Dress for this football game will be full uniform. Wind and percussion students need to wear their spirit shirt, performance shorts, black socks, Viper marching shoes and gloves (winds). Guard members need to wear the spirit shirt and black dance pants (you will change into your uniform at the game). Students must also have their flip folder, lyre, all music, instrument in working condition, guard equipment, garment bag, and their OTHS Band water bottle.
This is the Homecoming game, so students will be able to wear their garters and mums to the game (but do not attach it to your uniform). Please note that we will not be performing the competition show at halftime due to homecoming court activities.
3:30 pm – Rehearsal in the stadium
4:30 pm – Eat/Pack/Load
6:00 pm – Depart for Rhodes Stadium
6:30 pm – Arrive at Rhodes Stadium (we are the home team)
7:30 pm – Game Begins

Thank you so much to allof our wonderful parents who have volunteered for the mum factory this season! I know it’s been hectic because of the early homecoming date, but you guys have done such an incredible job! Your support of the OTHS Band is greatly appreciated by everyone!
